Best job search sites: how to choose by where the jobs come from
There is no single best job search site. They differ in where the jobs come from, how fast a closed posting disappears and where the Apply button leads.
Pick by those three things, then use more than one.
Updated 26 October 2026.
Four kinds of job search site
- Company career pages and applicant tracking systems: the employer's own posting, so the job is as live as the company says. Jobrona's index is built from these.
- Aggregators such as Indeed and Google Jobs: they collect listings from many places, so you see more jobs and more duplicates.
- Professional networks such as LinkedIn: jobs next to people, and a quick apply on some of them.
- Niche boards: one region, one field, or remote jobs only.
What to check on any site
- Is the posting still open, and what date does it show?
- Does Apply open the employer's own form or a copy of it?
- Is the same job listed more than once?
- Does it name a salary?

Questions and answers
What is the best job search site?
The one whose jobs fit what you want, that removes closed postings fast, and sends Apply to the employer's own form. For most people that means using a few kinds of site together.
Do job sites show jobs that are already closed?
Some do, for a while. Jobrona checks the boards it reads every day and drops closed postings, duplicates and fake jobs from its index.
