Senior Backend Engineer (AI Fluent) - Temporary

Glilot Hybrid Full-time This is an 12-month temporary position, with potential for extension depending on business needs. You'll join an R&D team that owns its systems end to end, from understanding the business need through design, implementation, and production monitoring. You'll build robust backend services that other teams rely on, and use AI tools in your daily work. You'll help shape how the team adopts them. What you'll do: - Take a leadership role in the design, architecture, development, quality, and production deployment of the team's systems. - Design and implement scalable, maintainable backend solutions for complex scenarios, consumed by other teams. - Work directly with Product, Design/UX, DevOps, and business stakeholders to understand the problem and define success metrics. - Use AI-powered development tools daily to move faster, and help the team adopt them responsibly. - Own production readiness: monitoring, alerting, and observability from day one, and lead the response to critical production issues. - Lead by example in code quality and code reviews, and act as a focal point for engineering excellence. - Proactively identify improvements in team systems, processes, and scalability. Who you are: Experience - 7+ years in backend engineering, with a track record of handling technical trade-offs and ambiguity. - Proficiency in C#, Java, or a similar object-oriented language. - Strong SQL and database management skills. - Hands-on experience with non-relational databases such as MongoDB. - Experience with message queues or streaming platforms (e.g., RabbitMQ, SQS, Kafka). - Experience with microservices architecture. - Experience extending complex existing systems while maintaining scalability and performance. - Hands-on, daily use of AI development tools. - A habit of validating before shipping: tests, metrics, and monitoring. - Independence: you can take a problem from definition to production without detailed specs. - Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders; you flag risks early. - BA/BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience (e.g., military technology units like 8200). Advantage: - Integrating AI-driven capabilities (LLM calls, multi-step workflows, retrieval) into backend services where they add value. - Deep familiarity with both Scrum and Kanban, or involvement in designing an AI-driven software development lifecycle. - Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). - Mentoring new hires and interns. #LI-MP2 The Payoneer Ways of Working Act as our customer’s partner on the inside Learning what they need and creating what will help them go further.
