ABOUT THE TEAM The Maneuver Dominance team at Anduril develops operationally relevant, multi-asset autonomy. We are focused on new air vehicle development programs, and making large groups of autonomous systems work effectively together. Within the Maneuver Dominance team, we are growing an early-stage, undisclosed autonomous air vehicle (AAV) program at our Costa Mesa HQ. This team is chartered with re-inventing an existing platform through heavy modification and integration of advanced autonomy, mission systems, and payloads. On this team, you will be tackling novel challenges across airframe, structures, avionics, and software from day one. As part of this program, you'll work alongside a tight-knit group of mechanical, structural, electrical, and software engineers, together with Program Leads and the Engineering team, all embedded in a single team driving toward major milestones. You will work in a lean, high-ownership culture where the entire vehicle team sits side-by-side, iterating quickly and making decisions in real time. Given the early stage of the program, you will have influence over foundational architecture decisions and the opportunity to redefine an existing platform. ABOUT THE JOB Anduril is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our rapid growing team in Costa Mesa, CA. As a Senior Systems Engineer on the Maneuver Dominance team, you’ll be the technical authority responsible for bringing a next-generation autonomous Group 5 Rotorcraft from concept to reality. You will: - Own System Definition: Own the system end-to-end by defining its behavior, interfaces, and architecture while communicating critical issues/gaps to the broader team and leadership - Maintain Technical Baseline(s): Enforce configuration control, requirements traceability, and risk management across the system lifecycle, ensuring the team is always working against a known, controlled technical baseline. Any variant modeling/deviation will need to be captured - Own Test Planning, Execution, and Validation: Define the technical test approach, pass/fail criteria, and test procedures needed to prove the system meets operational requirements, and help make the engineering call on whether results demonstrate readiness - Lead Milestone and Gate reviews: Own the technical content and outcome of System Requirements Reviews (SRR), Conceptual Design Reviews (CoDR) Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), and Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), determining whether the system is technically ready to proceed at each stage. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Help deploy right-sized, Agile Systems Engineering governance to enable rapid development while maintaining process discipline. - Lead the execution of a "test-as-a-design-tool" philosophy to mature components, subsystems, and the full vehicle through a structured verification campaign. - Work with customers and end-users to evolve the Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and define high-level requirements that inform key design decisions. - Develop and manage system requirements baseline, tracing from program-level needs down to subsystem specifications. - Actively manage all system interfaces, maintaining Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and leading the change control process across subsystem teams. - Define and execute the system verification and validation plan, including the development and maintenance of the requirements verification matrix. - Troubleshoot conflicting design requirements and drive technical solutions between engineering teams. - Prepare and present the technical data required to successfully pass major design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.). REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent - 6+ years in systems engineering on complex hardware and software vehicles, - Experience owning requirements and interface baselines across multiple subsystem teams - Experience planning and executing verification campaigns on physical hardware - Must be customer focused with the ability to formulate and implement plans to resolve technical engineering problems - Ability to travel to support program and test events (up to 25 percent) - U.S. Person status (citizenship or lawful permanent residency) required for ITAR and export controlled work - Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret clearance PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Hands-on experience architecture full-rotorcraft systems incl. hybrid/electric powertrains on high-performance Group4/5 Tactical UAS - Familiar with Model-based Product Line Engineering (MBPLE) and ISO 26262 - Experience and familiar with relevant testing MIL-STDs such as MIL-STD-810H, MIL-STD-461/464 - Experience and familiar with safety standards MIL-STD-882E - Experience in defense or aerospace robotic platforms - Familiarity with MBSE tooling (SysML v1.X, SysML v2, Cameo Systems Modeler, JAMA Connect, DOORS, DOORS Next Gen, or similar) The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
