INTERDISCIPLINARY (NON-MEDICAL CLINICAL COUNSELOR)

You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY (NON-MEDICAL CLINICAL COUNSELOR) in the FLEET AND FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAM of NAVSTA GTMO Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Major duties: You will provide non-medical clinical counseling to commonly occurring personal and family issues/circumstances, adjustment to military life, and psycho-educational training programs. You will receive and assess referrals made by military and civilian agencies for military life challenges. You will assess individual/family needs and explore basic personality structures in relation to behavior patterns, mechanisms, and symptoms. You will serve as the installation FAP clinical subject matter expert (SME) regarding clinical needs assessment, determining clinical intervention, and utilizing evidence-based treatment strategies and treatment. You will receive reports of problematic sexual behaviors in children and youth (PSB-CY) from military and civilian representatives and take appropriate action per FAP PSB-CY requirements. Qualifications: This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. Applicants must meet all of the following qualifications as outlined in SECNAVINST 1754.7A:State or U.S. territory license or certification that provides legal authority to provide clinical services as an independent practitioner. When the state or U.S. territory licensing or certification requirements include a written examination, candidates for privileging, must have achieved a passing score on that examination. Possess at least a masters degree in one of following clinical fields: Marriage and Family Therapy from a program accredited by Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education or an equivalent degree, OR Social Work from a school accredited by Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) or an equivalent degree, OR Psychology from a doctoral program approved by APA or an equivalent degree. Have engaged in 2 years, that includes at least 2,000 hours, full-time, post-masters supervised clinical experience. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience may include: 1) Providing solution focused psychological counseling to people in crisis 2) Modifying programs to meet changing needs of the active-duty military community 3) Selecting the appropriate counseling approach to achieve positive solutions 4) Developing group treatment programs to address the needs of families.
