Position Summary... The Director, Strategic Initiatives is a senior leader who helps shape and lead Walmart Giving's workforce development and economic mobility efforts. This role serves as both a strategic business advisor and philanthropic leader. The Director will develop and lead initiatives that help working adults build skills, access quality jobs, and advance their careers as technology and workforce needs change. Success requires turning complex challenges into practical solutions, building strong partnerships, and delivering measurable results that benefit workers, employers, and communities. About the team: The Strategic Initiatives team leads Walmart’s efforts to develop and implement impactful business strategies that drive growth and operational excellence. Collaborating across functions and with external partners, the team focuses on advancing economic opportunity, sustainability, and community strength. By leveraging data-driven insights and fostering strategic partnerships, the team supports workforce development and system transformation. This group champions innovation and continuous improvement to prepare for evolving market demands and future workforce needs, ensuring alignment with Walmart’s long-term goals and commitment to responsible business practices. What you'll do... - Develop and Lead Strategy: Shape workforce and economic mobility initiatives helping people build skills & access better jobs; Focus on scalable solutions grounded in local needs that are good for workers and business. - Advise the Business and Create Shared Value: Link business and workforce priorities; support Walmart’s human-led, tech-powered strategy. - Drive Cross-Functional Initiatives: Lead initiatives across business, nonprofit, and public sectors from strategy through implementation. - Advance Future of Work Preparedness: Apply AI, automation, and skills insights to investments - Strengthen Local Workforce Partnerships: Connect skills, training, credentials, and jobs. - Manage Delivery and Results: Set measures; track results. - Contribute Thought Leadership: Represent Walmart Giving. - Mentor and Lead: Foster collaboration. What you'll bring: - Experience developing and leading complex strategies and initiatives that produce measurable results. - Strong understanding of workforce development, economic mobility, skills-based hiring, or related fields. - Ability to connect business priorities with workforce and community needs. - Experience building partnerships across business, nonprofit, education, and public sectors. - Understanding of how AI, automation, and changing skills requirements are shaping jobs and career opportunities. - Ability to advise senior leaders, communicate complex ideas clearly, and influence decisions. - Strong judgment, problem-solving skills, and ability to turn strategies into action. - Experience leading cross-functional work and managing competing priorities in complex organizations. - Commitment to collaboration, integrity, learning, and delivering meaningful results. The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
