In this role, you will be responsible for discovering, researching, and reporting original news stories covering cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, decentralized finance (DeFi), Web3, and the broader digital asset industry. We are particularly interested in journalists who have established industry connections and experience securing exclusive interviews with cryptocurrency founders, CEOs, investors, developers, and other influential figures. You will have the opportunity to contribute original reporting, conduct interviews, investigate emerging developments, and help us deliver accurate, engaging, and insightful journalism to a global audience. Responsibilities - Pitch and develop original crypto news stories that align with our editorial objectives and audience interests. - Research and report on crypto markets, blockchain technology, DeFi, Web3, regulatory developments, and emerging industry trends. - Identify and secure interviews with crypto founders, executives, investors, developers, traders, and industry experts. - Build and maintain professional relationships with reliable industry sources. - Conduct thorough research, interviews, and fact-checking to ensure the accuracy and credibility of published content. - Write compelling news articles, exclusive interviews, investigative reports, and in-depth features that adhere to professional journalistic standards. - Identify breaking news opportunities and independently develop original reporting angles. - Monitor cryptocurrency industry developments, regulatory announcements, and major market events. - Collaborate with editors, fact-checkers, and multimedia teams to produce high-quality editorial content. - Ensure all reporting meets our editorial guidelines, ethical standards, and accuracy requirements. - Meet agreed deadlines and respond promptly to editorial feedback. - Participate in editorial discussions and contribute to the development of our news coverage strategy. Requirements - High proficiency in spoken and written English - Previous experience reporting (ideally including shorthand) - Interviewing techniques and skills - Knowledge of crypto space - Audio/visual skills (desirable but not essential) - Familiarity and confidence with search engine optimisation (SEO) techniques and practices - Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet editorial deadlines. - Knowledge of media law and public affairs - Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a remote editorial team Preferred Qualifications - Previous reporting experience with established cryptocurrency, financial, or technology publications. - An existing network of contacts within the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry. - Experience arranging exclusive interviews with crypto founders, CEOs, institutional investors, and influential industry figures. - Demonstrated experience in investigative journalism or original financial reporting. - Familiarity with blockchain explorers, on-chain analytics tools, and crypto market data. - Experience covering crypto regulation, exchange developments, DeFi protocols, and institutional adoption. - Experience conducting remote video interviews or participating in podcasts.
