Tech Product Manager, Events and Meetings

bristolmyerssquibb · Princeton, US

About the job

At Bristol Myers Squibb, our employees often ask, “Who are you working for?”—a question that fuels collaboration, accountability, and urgency in our work. Our purpose-driven culture inspires us to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines to prevail over serious diseases. We offer uniquely interesting and meaningful work, opportunities for growth, and a supportive environment that values inclusion, wellbeing, flexibility, and comprehensive benefits. This is work that transforms the lives of patients, and the careers of those who do it. Summary: This position is a Technical Product Manager accountable for the product direction, technical architecture decisions, and business outcomes of the global Events and Meetings platform, including Veeva Events Management and its integrations with HCP contracting, payment, and data systems. The role is a modern technical product leader: someone who understands software, data, APIs, and AI deeply enough to shape the product, and who is strong enough with people to learn the Veeva, pharma, and Events and Meetings domain quickly and partner closely with the business. The product manager is the accountable owner of product strategy and adoption for event owners, meeting managers, commercial and medical stakeholders, engineering teams, and Veeva and other vendors. The role owns the product vision and roadmap, makes integration and data decisions with engineering, and uses rapid prototyping and experimentation to test ideas before committing build capacity. The role leads the design of AI-enabled capabilities for events, such as intelligent recommendations, automated summaries, anomaly detection in spend and attendance data, and agentic workflows, and it is accountable for moving them from experiment to production responsibly, in line with BMS AI policies, data privacy rules, and validated systems requirements. The role is US-based with regular collaboration across global teams, vendors, and product owners. Key Responsibilities: - Define the product vision and multi-year roadmap for the global Events and Meetings platform, grounded in discovery with event owners, meeting managers, and business leaders. - Prioritize investments across the events and meetings portfolio using value, risk, and capacity trade-offs. - Lead technical product discovery: map end-to-end event workflows, identify friction, and test hypotheses through rapid prototypes and experiments before committing build capacity. - Lead the enterprise-level harmonization initiative to bring end-to-end (E2E) event workflows together at the global level, and identify where AI capabilities can be designed into them. - Identify, prioritize, and sponsor AI opportunities across the events lifecycle, run experiments and pilots, and take validated solutions into production. - Assess each candidate for where AI creates genuine value versus where deterministic software, workflow automation, or conventional analytics is the better solution. - Establish responsible AI practices for event products, including data privacy, explainability, bias review, and documentation that meets BMS AI policies and validated systems requirements. - Architecture, data, and engineering partnership - Make integration and architecture decisions with IT architecture and engineering teams for Veeva Events and its connections to CRM, MDM, contracting and payment systems, Veeva Vault, and AI/ML services, and challenge designs on APIs, data models, security, observability, and CI/CD. - Define the data strategy for events and meetings, including data quality, reference data, and the product telemetry needed to measure how the platform performs. - Drive platform simplification by reducing unnecessary customization and duplicate processes and favor standard configuration where it meets the need. - Run hands-on experimentation and prototyping to test ideas quickly, and make build, buy, or partner decisions for each capability, weighing cost, risk, time to value, and long-term ownership. - Shape technical solutions with engineering and CRM administrators, partner with the delivery lead to define acceptance criteria against measurable outcomes, and review delivery against them. - Business outcomes, governance, and domain partnership - Own the measurable business outcomes and value case for the product, including cycle time, compliance adherence, attendee experience, and cost per event, and report results and investment returns to senior leadership. - Drive user adoption and change across global event teams, measuring uptake and business impact. - Set priorities and roadmap for delivery teams, and hold delivery partners accountable for outcomes, UAT and validation oversight under GxP and GCP, release readiness, and vendor SLAs, communicating risks clearly to steering committees and the design authority. - Learn the Veeva, pharma, and Events and Meetings domain quickly, and partner with Events, Congress Management, Omni-Channel, Medical, Legal, Compliance, and Transparency to translate domain needs into product decisions. Desired Experience: Required: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Life Sciences, or a related field. - 7+ years of technology or product experience, including at least 3 years in product ownership or product management of enterprise, digital, or platform products. - Demonstrated experience applying generative AI, machine learning, or intelligent automation to real products or workflows, from experimentation through production. - Ability to identify where AI genuinely creates value versus where deterministic software, workflow automation, or conventional analytics is the better solution. - Technically credible with engineers. You do not need to write every line of code, but you must be comfortable discussing APIs, integration patterns, data models, cloud architectures, AI and LLM patterns, security, observability, and CI/CD, and able to challenge technical design decisions. - Proven ability to learn a regulated domain quickly (pharma, HCP engagement, events) and build credibility with business partners. - Experience leading cross-functional projects or platform implementations. - Experience in complex or regulated environments, with a working understanding of Agile product delivery. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate between business and technical audiences and present to senior leadership. Preferred: - Hands-on experience with Veeva CRM, Veeva Events Management, or comparable life sciences CRM platforms, including Engage, Approved Email, and MyInsights. - Experience with HCP engagement processes, including contract management, payment management, meeting management, transparency reporting, and regulatory compliance. - Experience in events management for pharma, including speaker programs, congresses, and non-promotional and promotional events. - Experience integrating CRM or event platforms with AI/ML services, such as surfacing predictive outputs or next-best-action insights. - Familiarity with master data management (MDM) concepts for HCP/HCO data and event reference data. - Experience with CI/CD concepts and release governance for configuration and custom development. - Experience with Jira and Confluence, and with vendor management and budgeting for enterprise platforms. - Working knowledge of GxP and GCP requirements for validated systems. - Veeva, Salesforce, or cloud platform certifications. We hire for skills and capabilities, not just credentials – if this role excites you, but doesn’t perfectly match your resume, we encourage you to apply anyway.
