About the job
This position is open only to Ukrainian citizens currently living in Lviv, Ukraine.
We are searching for an experienced Project Manager.
Our team handles mission-critical, multi-app, multi-platform distributed systems, addressing serious threats in the real world around us. This role requires full ownership of outcomes in mission-critical projects that operate in complex and dynamic environments. If you are comfortable taking responsibility in sensitive, socially impactful projects and thrive in environments that demand clarity, judgment, and accountability, this role may be a strong fit for you.
The company puts strong emphasis on maintaining a comfortable and supportive team environment. We expect you to be attentive to team dynamics, appreciate individual strengths, and navigate nuances thoughtfully to foster effective collaboration. The ability to balance delivery goals with a healthy team atmosphere will be very valuable for this position.
What you’ll do
- Own the delivery process and ensure it supports project goals and meets constraints. This includes designing the workflow, implementing, and continuously improving it.
- Collaborate with technical experts to create realistic development/delivery plans that lead towards project outcomes.
- Support R&D initiatives by breaking down the uncertainty and facilitating the process.
- Coordinate teams and organise processes for effective cross-team capacity allocation and collaboration.
- Drive results through internal company and team initiatives.
- Establish a monitoring system for delivery progress to ensure meeting the contract terms and to report to the management team.
- Manage the knowledge base for projects and products.
Requirements
- Proven 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager, including 3+ years in large, complex projects.
- Expertise in planning, designing, and executing large initiatives.
- Expertise in managing cross-functional teams, co-managing them based on project needs, in collaboration with the project’s technical lead.
- Experience working with product teams and in a startup environment.
- Attention to detail and focus on quality.
- Extreme ownership and diligence.
- Deep understanding of classic project management methodologies (PMBOK).
- Strong skills to communicate effectively and manage conflicts.
- Upper-intermediate English, written and spoken.
- Flexibility to work from the Lviv office as needed. While there are no fixed office attendance days, you should be able to work from the office around 50% of the time when required.
- Availability for business trips to Kyiv as required by work.
Nice to have
- Technical background (education and/or work experience in software development, engineering, quality assurance, etc).
- Understanding of information security, IoT and hardware, systems engineering, infrastructure, etc.
- Understanding of how large distributed systems are built or how they work (e.g. the scale of power plant control systems)
- Understanding of design and manufacturing processes in automation systems.
- Desire to work on extremely innovative projects and minimise chances for chaos ahead of time.
- Experience working in a multicultural context.
What makes you a great match
- The skill of seeing the bigger picture — understanding the team as a system and helping your team members see the interdependencies.
- Immaculate communication skills are a must — because mind-reading isn’t part of the job.
- Ability to see and maximise value in people, processes, and tools.
- A natural inclination to keep everything around you organised, design processes and follow them.
- Creativity — new ideas and experiences are vital to achieving great results.
Hiring process
- Resume review — up to 7 business days.
- Test task — estimated time hours 2-3.
- Introductory meeting with the Head of department and PM.
- Technical interview.
- Background check.
- Offer discussion.
What we offer
- Hybrid work model: This position allows for a combination of in-office and remote work as needed.
- Individual development plan based on your preferred growth direction.
- Our real strength is the team: not just roles, but builders creating something meaningful together.
- Competitive compensation with a flexible and clear bonus scheme.
- Paid vacation (21 business days per calendar year) and sick leave.
- Intersection of technologies: software development, information security, and cloud/on-prem infrastructure engineering. Sometimes, working with unique technologies — we design applied cryptography schemes and techniques and explore novel ways to implement them.
- Challenges and great variety: In one project, you might be setting up a deployment environment for IoT devices running our code in power plants, and in another project, managing the intricacies of cross-datacenter database replication.
- Reasonable time budgets and an attitude to build things well — we prioritise building for decades, rather than just until the next release.
- Conferences, books, courses — we encourage learning and sharing within the community. Our team members contribute a lot to talks, workshops, and blog posts.
