Summary
Guidewire’s Purchasing team enables responsible growth through strategic sourcing, supplier partnerships, risk management, and data-informed value creation. Working closely with BizTech, Finance, Legal, Information Security, Audit/Compliance, and regional stakeholders, you will help strengthen technology buying practices across APAC in a collaborative, inclusive environment. Your work will support Guidewire’s mission to help property and casualty insurers modernize and thrive through innovative cloud and technology solutions.
This role leads complex technology and services sourcing across APAC, with particular focus on software, cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and consulting services. You will combine commercial judgment, contract expertise, supplier management, analytics, and executive communication to create value, reduce risk, and enable stakeholders to move with clarity and confidence. The role is an opportunity to shape scalable procurement practices while contributing to BizTech priorities such as AI enablement, operational excellence, secure technology adoption, automation, self-service analytics, and employee experience.
Job Description
What you’ll do
- Lead strategic sourcing activities for a portfolio of technology and professional-services categories, including software, cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence, consulting, facilities, and hospitality services.
- Plan and execute complex request-for-information, request-for-proposal, and related sourcing events; develop objective evaluation criteria; assess supplier capabilities; and recommend solutions that balance value, risk, service levels, and stakeholder requirements.
- Manage negotiations and executive readouts for agreements of varying size and complexity across APAC, including Bangalore and India, with regional exposure to markets such as Sydney, Kuala Lumpur, and Japan.
- Manage the full lifecycle of key supplier contracts, using and improving standard templates and commercial language in partnership with Legal and other control functions. Independently review and redline commercial terms, identify risks, and resolve business terms, service levels, and obligations in Guidewire’s best interests.
- Build trusted relationships with business requesters and senior stakeholders, particularly across APAC, and manage assigned suppliers, performance inputs, renewals, escalations, and associated risks throughout the relationship lifecycle.
- Analyze regional spend, usage, market trends, and supplier performance to develop category strategies, deal plans, forecasts, and actionable recommendations. Partner with stakeholders on scenario analysis for usage-based contracts.
- Contribute to category plans, the Purchasing Services and Solutions playbook, standardized tools, training materials, and best practices that improve consistency, speed, compliance, and value creation.
- Use procurement and collaboration tools—including Zip, Zylo, Coupa, Google Workspace, Slack, and relevant artificial intelligence solutions—to improve transparency, reporting, workflow efficiency, and stakeholder experiences. At Guidewire, we foster a culture of curiosity, innovation, and responsible use of AI—empowering our teams to continuously leverage emerging technologies and data-driven insights to enhance productivity and outcomes.
What you’ll bring
Required
- 10–12 years of global strategic sourcing experience, including technology contract management and negotiations; experience with software, cloud, artificial intelligence, facilities, hospitality, or professional and consulting services is valuable.
- Strong experience negotiating and managing contracts in Bangalore and India, with the ability to support or collaborate on agreements across APAC markets.
- Demonstrated ability to manage supplier relationships, performance, renewals, commercial risk, and mitigation plans.
- Experience with category management, spend analytics, operational metrics, usage-based commercial models, and contract playbooks.
- Ability to independently interpret, redline, and negotiate commercial terms, service levels, pricing, renewals, liability, termination, and other contractual provisions while collaborating effectively with Legal and control functions.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including professional presence and confidence presenting sourcing recommendations and key deals to senior leaders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organization, prioritization, and information-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple negotiations and stakeholders independently.
- Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and apply it to your current role as well as data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience with Zip, Zylo, Coupa, Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, supplier-management platforms, and procurement analytics tools.
- Experience developing procurement playbooks, standard templates, training resources, or process-improvement recommendations.
- Experience supporting technology transformation, cloud adoption, automation, self-service analytics, secure technology operations, or employee-experience initiatives.
- Familiarity with responsible AI, information-security controls, audit requirements, and procurement governance.
Your Impact
We believe in clarity and setting you up for success. In your first six months, you will build relationships with APAC stakeholders and key suppliers, understand regional spend and contract priorities, establish a pipeline of sourcing and renewal opportunities, and deliver well-governed negotiations supported by clear analysis and executive-ready recommendations. You will help improve contract visibility, supplier-risk management, usage-based forecasting, policy compliance, and cycle efficiency while contributing to BizTech’s focus on AI enablement, automation, secure and resilient technology, data-driven decision-making, and excellent employee experiences. Over time, your work will influence how Guidewire manages technology investments, strengthens supplier partnerships, reduces avoidable cost and risk, and enables teams to deliver innovative solutions that help insurers modernize and thrive.
