Drama Teacher

We are looking for a Primary School Drama Teacher for a private IB World School in Wuhan. This position is available from February 2027, during the 2026/27 academic year. About the School Located in Wuhan’s Hongshan district, this private school offers primary and middle school education, combining the Chinese national curriculum with an international outlook. As an IB World School authorised to deliver both the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP), it promotes inquiry-based learning, independent thinking and students’ all-round development. Small primary classes of no more than 26 students support individual attention, while partnerships with Australian schools create opportunities for cultural exchange and broaden students’ global perspectives Job Responsibilities - Teach drama to primary school students aged 6–12 in classes of no more than 26 students, with teaching assistant support - Deliver 22 lessons per week, each lasting 40 minutes, as part of a 40-hour working week - Plan engaging lessons using storytelling, role play, improvisation and performance - Develop students’ confidence, creativity, communication and collaboration skills - Create inquiry-based drama activities that support learning within the IB PYP framework - Guide students in developing characters, exploring scripts and creating original performances - Assess students’ progress and provide constructive feedback - Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and school performances - Maintain an inclusive classroom that encourages participation and respectful creative expression Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in the subject taught or a related field - Ability to plan and deliver engaging drama lessons for students aged 6–12 - Ability to support students with different learning needs and levels of performance confidence - Strong communication, collaboration and classroom management skills Benefits Salary and Benefits - Monthly salary of RMB 22,000–28,000 after tax, commensurate with experience and qualifications - Annual airfare allowance of RMB 5,000 - Social insurance - Accident insurance - Lunch provided - Free education for staff children - One- to two-year contract
