À propos du poste
We are looking for an Account Manager to look after a portfolio of customers and spend part of each day helping us win and grow blue chip accounts. Part-time applications would also be considered.
This is our core account manager role with an added focus on blue chip accounts. Most of your time will be spent managing and growing your own accounts (80-85%). The rest will be spent supporting our blue chip strategy (15-20%).
It suits an account manager who wants to develop their technical knowledge, work alongside field sales and play a part in winning some of our most important customers.
What you will be doing:
Account management (around 80-85% of your time)
- Manage your own portfolio of accounts day to day, achieving your sales targets and any KPI targets set for you.
- Build strong relationships with customers by phone and email, understanding their needs and recommending the right products.
- Follow up quotes promptly and keep the quote report up to date.
- Apply discounts and carriage in line with company guidelines.
- Keep accurate customer and activity records in our CRM.
Blue chip account support (around 15-20% of your time)
You will support the blue chip strategy in four ways:
Find and open blue chip accounts
- Research and identify blue chip manufacturing businesses that fit our range and service.
- Make first contact with decision makers and build relationships across buying, engineering and production teams.
- Help grow the blue chip account deck, tracking targets, contacts and progress in our CRM.
Work with field sales
- Work closely with field sales colleagues to plan and create blue chip opportunities.
- Book and prepare for customer visits, share account insight and follow up actions after meetings.
- Coordinate quotes, samples and trials so blue chip customers receive a joined-up service.
Technical selling and training
- Take a more active part in technical selling, helping customers solve machining problems and reduce costs.
- Support technical training online for customers to create value-added opportunities.
- Build your own technical knowledge of our products and their applications.
Work with the MTA Product Manager
- Work with the MTA Product Manager to identify and develop opportunities for the MTA range within blue chip accounts.
- Share customer feedback and market insight to help shape product and account plans.
What we are looking for:
Essential:
- Proven experience in telesales, internal sales or account management, with a consistent record of hitting sales and KPI targets.
- Confidence making first contact with new prospects and building relationships at different levels of a business.
- A genuine interest in technical products and the ability to learn how they are applied.
- Strong organisation skills, with the discipline to balance day-to-day accounts with longer-term account development.
- Clear, confident communication by phone, email and in person.
- Good IT skills, including a CRM, Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of cutting tools, machine tool accessories or engineering consumables.
- Experience selling to large or blue chip manufacturing customers.
- Experience delivering product or technical training.
What you will bring
- A proactive, self-motivated approach and the drive to hit your targets.
- A customer-first mindset focused on long-term value.
- Curiosity about how our products work and the problems they solve.
- The ability to work well with field sales, product managers and the wider team.
