À propos du poste
Immuta is the Data Authorization Company, helping the world’s largest organizations control who, and what, can access their data.
The way enterprises access data is fundamentally changing. Organizations are racing to put data to work across analytics and AI, while AI copilots and agents are emerging as an entirely new class of data consumer. Traditional approaches built around tickets, static permissions, and manual approvals were not designed for this speed, scale, or complexity.
Immuta provides the authorization layer for modern data and AI. Our platform enables organizations to provision governed access to data by policy, by request, and dynamically for AI agents, so people and AI can access the data they need while enterprises maintain security, compliance, and control.
For Chief Data Officers, that means making enterprise data dramatically easier to access and use without giving up governance. For AI leaders, it means giving AI agents secure, governed access to enterprise data so they can move from experimentation into production.
Founded in 2015, Immuta is trusted by Fortune 500 companies and government agencies worldwide.
- Our technology ecosystem includes Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Okta, ServiceNow, Teradata, Alation, Atlan, and Starburst — connecting Immuta to the data, cloud, identity, and enterprise platforms powering modern data and AI environments.
- Immuta has been recognized by Forbes as a top American startup employer, by Inc. Magazine and Built In as one of the best workplaces, and by Fast Company as one of the world’s most innovative companies.
- Immuta has raised $263 million from investors including NightDragon, Snowflake, Databricks, ServiceNow, Citi Ventures, Dell Technologies Capital, DFJ Growth, IAG, Intel Capital, March Capital, Okta Ventures, StepStone, Ten Eleven Ventures, and Wipro Ventures.
- We operate as a hybrid workplace with offices in Boston, MA; Columbus, OH; and College Park, MD.
ABOUT THE TEAM
Immuta’s Core Policy Team builds the technologies that power Immuta’s platform, enabling customers to author, manage, and enforce complex data access policies across modern data ecosystems.
We develop systems that automate governance and privacy enforcement across leading cloud data platforms, including Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, and Starburst. We work across engineering, product, design, and other partner teams to solve complex technical problems, improve scalability and performance, and deliver maintainable software that creates meaningful value for customers.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Core Policy Team, you’ll design, build, and evolve scalable, high-performance features that power Immuta’s policy abstraction and enforcement capabilities. You’ll work across front-end and back-end systems to turn complex product and technical challenges into clear, maintainable solutions.
You’ll take ownership of complex projects and features from technical design through delivery, rollout, and follow-up improvements. You’ll contribute to architectural direction, use operational data to improve reliability and performance, and help create alignment across engineering and cross-functional partners. This is a hands-on individual contributor role for an engineer who enjoys solving difficult problems, exercising technical judgment, and helping other engineers grow.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the design and end-to-end delivery of complex features and cross-component initiatives within the Core Policy Team, and when appropriate, across multiple engineering teams.
- Design and implement maintainable front-end components using Angular, React, Vue.js, or comparable technologies.
- Develop and evolve backend services, APIs, and data models using TypeScript, Node.js, and related technologies.
- Create coherent designs across service, API, and data boundaries, anticipating failure modes, scalability needs, operational requirements, and long-term maintenance costs.
- Improve the scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability of existing systems through thoughtful refactoring, technical planning, and data-informed decisions.
- Own quality through design reviews, code reviews, automated testing, observability, safe rollout practices, and clear success measures for the systems and features you deliver.
- Partner with Product, Design, Security, and other Engineering teams to clarify requirements, evaluate tradeoffs, build alignment, and deliver cohesive solutions for customers.
- Mentor engineers through thoughtful feedback, pairing, documentation, design discussions, and code reviews, helping raise technical standards and strengthen team practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, tooling, CI/CD workflows, and developer experience, and follow through on improvements that increase team effectiveness.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Experience: 5+ years in software engineering or a related discipline, with demonstrated scope and impact considered alongside tenure; preferred experience delivering production software.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript, with experience building front-end applications using Angular, React, Vue.js, or comparable frameworks, and backend services using Node.js or related technologies.
- Systems & Architecture: Experience designing and delivering services, APIs, and distributed systems with attention to scalability, maintainability, extensibility, reliability, and secure operation.
- Data & APIs: Strong SQL and relational database fundamentals, including experience with PostgreSQL or comparable systems and designing data models and API contracts.
- Engineering Quality: Experience with automated testing, code review, continuous integration and delivery, observability, debugging, and safe production rollouts.
- Technical Judgment: Ability to frame ambiguous problems, consult the right stakeholders, evaluate tradeoffs, make timely decisions, and explain the rationale behind technical choices.
- Project Ownership: Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects or cross-component initiatives from technical design through delivery, rollout, monitoring, and follow-up improvements.
- Collaboration & Influence: Ability to build alignment and influence technical direction across Engineering and partner functions without relying on formal authority.
- Leadership: Experience mentoring engineers, providing constructive feedback, and improving team practices through design reviews, documentation, code reviews, or other knowledge-sharing activities.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
