Position Summary...
What you'll do...
Walmart is seeking a Senior Director of Content Design to lead how clear, useful, and compelling content comes to life across our global customer, associate, and enterprise experiences.
This leader will bring deep expertise in content strategy and content design—from UX writing, information architecture, and voice and tone to end-to-end content planning—while evolving the discipline for the AI era.
You will shape how content and interactions are designed, governed, generated, and delivered across established and emerging experiences, including conversational, multimodal, and AI-powered interfaces.
What you’ll do
- Set the global vision and strategy for content design across Walmart’s brands, markets, and digital experiences, balancing consistency with local needs.
- Lead content design for conversational, agentic, and generative experiences, including how AI experiences communicate, express uncertainty, recover from errors, and keep people in control.
- Partner with Design, Product, and Engineering to shape how content and interactions come together across text, voice, visual, and dynamically generated interfaces.
- Establish voice and tone standards, content systems, and governance that enable teams and AI-enabled systems to create cohesive, accessible, and on-brand experiences.
- Define quality standards and evaluation practices for content and generated experiences, including clarity, usefulness, factual grounding, accessibility, and trust.
- Advance AI-enabled ways of working across research, exploration, prototyping, production, and evaluation, while maintaining strong human judgment and craft.
- Build and lead a high-performing content design organization, developing talent and partnering across the enterprise to evolve the discipline
What you’ll bring
- Significant experience leading content design or content strategy across multiple brands, markets, and digital experiences.
- Deep expertise in content design craft, including plain language, information architecture, interaction design, voice and tone, accessibility, and content systems.
- Experience building content standards, reusable patterns, and governance that scale globally while supporting local needs.
- Experience shaping conversational, AI-enabled, or adaptive experiences, with a strong point of view on how AI is changing content design and product experiences.
- Working knowledge of how instructions, context, trusted content sources, and model behavior influence generated experiences, and the ability to partner effectively with technical teams.
- Experience using research, testing, and evaluation to improve content quality, accessibility, trust, and user outcomes.
- Strong people leadership and the ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional partners across a complex organization.
Portfolio expectations
Your portfolio should demonstrate how you think strategically and systematically about content. Please include examples that show:
- Content strategies and flows that shaped an end-to-end customer, associate, or enterprise experience.
- Content systems you built or scaled, including voice and tone, reusable patterns, governance, and how teams applied them.
- Conversational, AI-enabled, multimodal, or generative experiences you helped shape, including the problem, your role, key decisions, and what you learned.
- How you have used AI in content design or established instructions, evaluation criteria, or guardrails to support content quality and trust.
- How you have led teams, influenced partners, or evolved ways of working to improve content design outcomes.
Relevant prototypes and exploratory work are welcome. For AI-related examples, please describe your individual contribution and how you partnered with others.
At Walmart, content is central to how people understand, navigate, and connect with our experiences. This leader will strengthen the core discipline of content design while helping define how it evolves in an AI-powered future.
